INSULATION NATION

The Official Magazine of ICAA

INSULATION NATION is a resource for all insulation industry professionals. In the pages of INSULATION NATION, we provide an in-depth analysis of trends, opportunities, and challenges, as well as discussion of the legislative issues that shape our industry.

INSULATION NATION 2022 takes a close look at the potential in reducing the nation’s carbon footprint through the addition of building insulation and home retrofits.

Adding insulation to buildings can have a big impact on the carbon footprint, and it won’t require a complete, sweeping policy change at the government level or an overhaul of the energy grid. The commercial and residential sectors account for 14% of 2020 greenhouse gas emissions, primarily from buildings’ use of fossil fuels burned for heat, while electricity production accounts for 25%. A recent industry-sponsored study clearly illustrates that insulation can cost-effectively, significantly decrease building energy use and carbon emissions.

INSULATION NATION 2021 details the three major benefits insulation provides: 1) Saving energy costs for consumers; 2) Reducing greenhouse gas emissions; and 3) Creating jobs.

The average household saves 15% on heating and cooling costs due to proper insulation, according to the EPA. In addition, an estimated $4.8 billion in energy savings is available to industrial and commercial building industries with a modest increase in insulation. Read this issue to discover the equally substantial contributions of insulation to the economy through employment and payroll, as well as how our industry significantly increases the reduction of greenhouse gases.

INSULATION NATION 2020 lays out a roadmap for the insulation industry’s potential contribution to the reduction of carbon emissions. Our goal? To insulate 25 million homes toward a more energy efficient future.

Nine out of ten homes are under insulated, and residential and commercial buildings account for 40% of carbon emissions in the U.S. Existing technology – including insulation and air sealing – can significantly improve the energy efficiency of the current building stock .
