Adding insulation to buildings can have a big impact on the carbon footprint, and it won’t require a complete, sweeping policy change at the government level or an overhaul of the energy grid. The commercial and residential sectors account for 14% of 2020 greenhouse gas emissions, primarily from buildings’ use of fossil fuels burned for heat, while electricity production accounts for 25%. A recent industry-sponsored study clearly illustrates that insulation can cost-effectively, significantly decrease building energy use and carbon emissions.

The average household saves 15% on heating and cooling costs due to proper insulation, according to the EPA.
